TVB Kung Fu Supernova

So my journey at TVB is starting today. For those who missed the news, I’ve been selected by TVB to participate the International Kung Fu Star 2011 reality show right after my Journey to Wudang. There are preliminaries for several countries and I will represent The Netherlands for this contest. I will update you via my blog and www.facebook.com/alexcheung.nl  (like the page for inside content)

I will be at TVB studio from 09.00 to 20.00 tomorrow.

I came across this blog, it’s someone in Malaysia when recruiting for the Kung Fu Star over there: http://double-lithium.blogspot.com/2011/06/audience-001-in-kungfu-tv-show.html

It’s late at night here, I just walk up the balcony and oh, what is Hong Kong night view beautiful. I looked up to the blinking stars and I wished good luck for the coming days. Goodnight!

Boiling points

I thought I can forget the things at home, being alone, but it aint truth. In Hong Kong another home for me started and electricity, water, tax, tax and even more tax payments letters to handle.

Today I’d planned to work on my study and go for the Wingchun class at eve, but yea, did home business all day long . . BUSY!

Now that’s actually Hong Kong life, it is really a fast pace society. The Netherlands is totally different. So, back in Holland you call me a busy guy, man, you should see what it looks like here in Hong Kong! If you call people up, they are basically busy. Well, that’s most of them say. It’s like a horse racing circuit. They should take a break man!

Just like the cat 😉

I took this picture at Yuen Long Centre where I took the MTR. Really funny, and a special way to save energy and so the world resources. I think a very good initiative to bring the awareness to people.

E34 Airport bus + Extra

So I took the E34 Airport bus to pick up my sis Mandy who just had a very long distance flight from Holland, Germany, Beijing and finally arriving at Hong Kong. It was around eight o’clock in the eve so I suggested to have something to eat at the airport. And yea it is the Mei Sum restaurant which was also shown in my vlog here:

A Journey to the East series 1 Leaving Home AC Vlog 5

It was fun immediately at the Mei Sum airport wok/restaurant where we had a small dinner.

and then she suddenly asked me, hey look over there, it is not allowed to bring meat into the plane right? So how can they say like roast goose perfect for inflight and when I saw the logo, it remind me of KLM which is symbolized by the swan. It was soo funny the Chinese translation for the name and how they sell it like perfect to consume inflight XD you have to check this pic out . .

in the E34 bus back home there was a stewardess sitting next to us, and she was like having fun all the way with her iphone . . but then I noticed that she is trying to withhold a laughter all the time. I really wanted to ask her what’s so funny. Even Mandy noticed when I told her in Dutch to check it out. So before we get out the bus I was looking at here and kinda with an asking expression and she was almost laughing! Then we get out the bus and she was looking back at me and so we waved our hand haha

You know, when I arrived in Hong Kong months ago I was standing next to a stewardess. and she was a bit different type I think, by the way she behaved. She bumped up to me a few times and was standing in a funny way with her luggage and had a noticing phone conversation even another co passenger was nodding her head. Well, it was long time ago, but the thing is that a few weeks later she was sitting next to me in the bus haha, what a coincidence. So lots of things seems to be very happening by chance after I have arrived in Hong Kong and especially my Wudang trip I met lot of people and some very interesting stories. That I tell you later, for now, some examples during my stay in Hong Kong. I went to a sushi restaurant 1 month ago and there I met the HSI uncle, that’s his nick for now. Somehow we started a conversation about sushi, ah, I asked him why he didn’t go the the sushi restaurant at the corner and if he was afraid of the radiation, because that time it was on the news everyday here in Hong Kong. So we had a chat and then also talked about Hong Kong economy, stocks and Hang Seng Index and he said; let me tell you what, as I won’t see you again, just check out the HSI then he told me his expectations. And guess what, I went to Wudang mountain and now after a month I went to the same sushi restaurant for the second time and yup.. I met the HSI uncle again haha

Things are so likely planned to happen since my Journey to the East.

Even the day I’m back in Hong Kong, I went to my Wingchun academy, in the bus I met an old man, he said to me: So you are learning Wingchun right, then he give me a wise word. I still remember when he got out the bus he looked back and again remind me of the word he told me. Then at the Nathan road a woman handing out leaflets said hey you’re that guy, and so I stopped and looked back. Aha, this was the lady which I met few months ago, back then I was looking for my Wingchun master, and asked her how to walk and so I had a talk for what company she was handing out. She even still remembers that I’m from Holland! So there are many more stories, some are really funny..

So because of a sister yelling for ice-cream I took her to the nearest ice salon, with really nice flavors!

We walked into a clothes shop and it is so that I been there for 3 times and each time I had very clumsy ice-scream with me :p so the girl recognizes me and of course my trademark tail, so we had a talk with the friendly staff,. and yess then they asked why I always buys the expensive ice-scream in this particular ice-cream salon. So I answered in Cantonese, because I like their big ‘po’ instead of ‘kaw’ 球. it is the same fault i made last year in a clothing store with yalen.. So Mandy was having a laughter and it was oh so funny yea

Ps. ‘Po’ = ball but also means boobies and ‘kaw’ is more user friendly and mostly used for ice-scream as I know. So it is how many ‘kaw’ do you want? Yea like that.

Upcoming next blog: My Wudang Mountain experiences and trying to upload some vlog too 🙂

Btw. this is a really really delicious dessert! Made up of milk, soya, sugar and that’s all I know haha!

Left = Double layer milk Right = Dan tan (that’s how my sihing is saying it :P)

First time I tried it and I love it, went 3 more days after the Wingchun lessons I had and took away for home too haha

Wudang Mountain

Dear All,

I am safely back in Hong Kong, I have been to the Wudangshan (Mountain) for a few weeks. There I stayed for training and meditating purposes. I have met Zhangran my good friend from Shandong and this time with a girlfriend and her cousin. I haven’t seen him for 2 years now, I have known him as a Wudang kungfu practitioner back in Holland. We had a very good time together.

I know, sorry guys it’s been a long long time for my blog. As you might know, Facebook is blocked within mainland China. There they use their own social platforms. The place I was living was a small village in Wudang Mountain, so internet is not always guaranteed. I have risking my life recording video for my Youtube channel, and also took lots of pictures which I’ll be uploading soon..

I am really excited to see the rest of the photos which are taken by others, when I get them I will then share with you too.

If you had checked my gallery you could see the photos I already had uploaded in my Wudang trip album. Really nice pictures, beautiful scenery just like a painting.

Wudang mountain, a wonderful place. To me, this is a destiny trip. It gives me a special feeling, awareness and the things happening are so round. I can say it is one of the best trips I have experienced. I have met a lot of people, and seen lot of things, it was fun everyday or better saying made fun everyday. Living a simple life, the contrast between Hong Kong city and Wudangshan from a foreigner.

During my stay at Wudangshan, I felt I was in the ancient times surrounded by martial arts scenery ~

A Journey to the East series 2 – Mothersday AC Vlog 11 (Rose with Love 爱心玫瑰 2)

I saw this man sitting in the middle of the Mongkok streets, and I was attracted by his roses. It’s so beautifully handcrafted. Then I had a glimpse at his hands and saw that he has a handicap. The box next to him states: Rose with love. It is for donations. Then I went closer and tried to have a chat with him. Because I was interested why he is sitting here making roses and curious of his story what really happened to him causing him in such situation. I had some change in my pocket and donated in the box. After a talk, I bought a rose from him.

Happy Mothersday

Although I cannot celebrate it with you in person,  I have bought you a rose with love. Hope you like it Mom.

妈妈祝你, 身体健康, 工作顺利, 节日快乐!

This is not a normal rose, it is a rose with special meanings, please see the video.

这不是一个普通的红玫瑰, 而是有意义, 请看片。

But the most important is, that this is from me to you.

但是最重要的是, 这是我送给你的心意。

Today, I hope that all the moms would smile from their hearts, because just when mom is happy, we are happy!

希望今天, 所有的母亲都会发动笑声或从心里微笑, 因为只要妈妈快乐, 我们就快乐!

Today, I made 2 mama’s smile. And that makes the 3rd smile.  =)

This was my lunch for today =)

pork vegetables rice and a la carte salmon dish with lemon tea.

Then I went to some bakery to take some cakes home for my grandparents.

My grandfather bought some nice and fresh Hong Kong lobsters from the market for 50 euros each.

Needs superior cooking skills to make a good dish from it.

The Chinese cuisine is one of the finest of the world, so that makes it clear that enjoying food is of great value for Chinese people. Lots of restaurants were fully booked because of Mothersday. Some even booked their reservation a month ago. On the streets, there were lots of people, shopping centers were crowded.

I have had a nice dinner at home today.

I don’t know why, but somehow I can have great talks with seniors. Tonight I had another long talk with a friend of my grandfather. She taught me a lesson, or frankly speaking, she shared some life experiences with me. It seems like I’ve been chosen to talk to them, because it is quite often that parents of my friend and seniors in my network likes to talk to me. Although sometimes they could be talking for so long, but you can learn a lot from them. And it is totally different than talking to someone in your age or younger. Their conversations have lot more meaning. I think the most important is to have a good ear to respect them.

Living in Hong Kong

I will first introduce you to Hong Kong with some general information which I think is worth noticing.

Hong Kong became a colony of the British Empire after the First Opium War (1839–1842). Later the Japanese took over the authority in the world war during their invasion. Since 1997 China resumed sovereignty over Hong Kong. As it was governed by rules both under British and Chinese administration. It influenced a lot of today’s Hong Kong. For example, the educational system is similar to England. Scholars and students wear uniforms. The right hand sided driving direction and the traffic signs, really noticeable for the traveler like me. When I just arrived in Hk, I often forgot which side the traffic is coming so have to double check 2 sides, a matter of getting use to it. The street names which are by the way in Chinese characters And English. The language, you can communicate in English in this beautiful city. So, the time period greatly influenced the current culture of Hong Kong, often described as “East meets West”

Hong Kong is one of the most densely populated areas in the world. and the world’s most vertical city. It also have a highly developed transportation network, which public transport coverage is the highest in the world.

Japan & Radiation

As for the horrible catastrophe in Japan,  radiation have been a hot topic over the world. It is not only effecting the Japanese cities, but it seems to have a huge impact as a wave of danger towards nearby countries. Well, here in Hong Kong, I have not yet seen any thing very remarkable or unusual as the news is still speaking about the situation in Japan and the affects of this dramatic catastrophe. But I have to say there are people standing in the row for salt. Most of them are senior citizens who are afraid of the salt stock running empty, and some believes that salt will strengthen you against radiation. It actually does, but it would not help in this small amount of radiation/salt. Plus, over eating salt is also not good for your health.

What really affected Hong Kong citizen’s everyday life is that the prices of vegetables and meat increased for about 10% – 20% caused by the reduced import quote. That is for so far I have noticed of the effects from this catastrophe in Hong Kong. Hope that the economy will recover soon. I wish the best for them.

Hong Kong apartment

The first things to do, packing out my luggage and cleaning up the room. The furniture was full of dust. I like everything to be clean. At least, I’m striving for a cleaned up room =P  So, got some work to do. I really like home furnishing and interior design. You know, when I was a scholar, interior architect was one of the possible professions I’d like to go for. I’d like to be creative.

As you can see I bought 2 Gatsby gels which are available in multi colors with different specs. I have not yet tried the orange and black one. But the pink one is just a bit too dry, but very strong.

These are perfumes to make your room smells really good. And it easily last for a month, or at least over 3 weeks. I think the smell in a room is also important because it gives you a special feel when entering a room. If the look is good, smells good then the taste would probably be no less than good.

My first Sushi lunch, here it comes, tadaa

This is the Durian fruit, it is also known as the King of Fruits. If you are in Asia, you should try this! For this fruit, there is a believe that you like it very much or you really dislike it! Cuz it has a very strong smell but tastes really good!

I’m thinking about taking a smartphone, but I still kinda like the flip phone I’m using now. You know, those tablets are getting more popular and people are communicating on road with these tablets like the Samsung Galaxy tablet which is smaller than the Ipad, but people do videocall eachother in shopping malls and on the street to interact with it. Sometimes it is really funny to talk with such a big device, because it made me think of the 大哥大’s in the old days, which are the first big cellphones with antenna’s.

This is a very traditional snack in Hong Kong. It is named ‘鸡蛋子‘ by the local people which means literally ‘little eggs‘. I only know that it is made out of eggs and butter, don’t know if there are any other ingredients as it is a ‘secret’ recipe. But what I know for sure is that it taste DELICIOUS!

Furthermore, I have been to the Hong Kong International Lighting & Electronics Fair with my internship company.

Lots of people, cool stuff, innovative designs and a lot of walking xD

I would definitely have more fun with you guys here to joke around, cuz the people here are so serious and mean. But it is really great to check this out!

I saw this beautiful watch and I just love it!

The pink one in the middle yeah, with the butterfly in the center, what a lovely design right? =)

Unfortunately I don’t have a girlfriend to buy her this and my sis have had her birthday present already, so I’ll leave it right there and took this picture. =)

I think this is really a beautiful picture, a construction worker sitting on bamboo constructed working area doing his everyday job. This picture has the Hong Kong traditional flavour. To me, it is more than a normal picture.

I thought I would have plenty of time. In the answer of this question I could both say yes and no. I’m using my time differently. I think it is another way of living, a good thing is that I have more a fixed routine now, I mean a better time scheduled and I can concentrate more in study/training/living than back in Holland with you guys to distract me!  ;P

36 mail to go, having more than 20 mails done last week.. Should go on.. talk to ya next time!

Ps. The next time I’ll be blogging or hopefully vlogging over my experiences with the local Hong Kong people and society. So stay tuned and we’ll keep in touch, bye!

‘The Journey to the East’ – Internship in China

Hi guys, sorry for not blogging for a while. I have to say that I have arrived safely in Hong Kong, China. I had a very busy time plus my internet went down.. Just had the maintenance guy came by and replaced the modem. Jetlag and trying to stay away from the shopping habit and really trying not to overeat with the delicious food here.

The days are going so fast, remembering the afternoon at my university where I had a free lunch of the nice lady working at the canteen, but actually I do not believe free lunch in this world.
So, everything was fine and as a matter of happiness I felt I have to treat my car a nice polish wash and so I fed my lobsters a piece of crabstick too, hmm yummi! (which I think they are really telling me)

There are still so many things which I want to share with you, I think I’ll post it next week. By the way! I have to update my www.facebook.com/alexcheung.nl ! and still got loads of mails to reply . .

I have been vlogging in Hong Kong but not yet time to edit and put them online. If you’d like to check out my ‘A Journey to the East’ AC Vlog series at www.youtube.com/alexcheungvlog (I’ve registered a new Youtube account specially for my journey to the East) [Subscribe to this account if you don’t want to miss a video]

After Rain there Will Be Sunshine

Woooooooooooooooooooooooooooooohoooooooooooooooooooo, I made it!
As I promised, I proudly tell you that after storm and rain, sunshine and sunset, the rainbow appears in night!! wow, seems impossible right?
but it really did, haha I’m so happy.
Happy to had such a day tonight. It was so sweet to see the true colors shining through. Shiny, pure and splendid. And in my heart, I don’t feel stuck anymore. I am relieved from my feelings.
My heart is beating strongly. It never felt this strong before, like nothing can stop it now. I strongly believe in myself that nothing is impossible.

After a long day on the set I was tired. Together with the Wu Dao Dragon David, actor Michael, Marsipulami and singer Denny Christian we had a lot of fun.
We had a role as the Chinese businessmen for a comic TV series ‘Toren C’. We were shooting on the rooftop of a commercial building. The location was just like the same as in the famous infernal affairs rooftop scenes. We where so-called escorted with a helicopter to the rooftop and there we suppose to have a performance of Danny Christian. It was windy but the sun was shining so that compromises. There were commercial buildings around our office and you can clearly see those employees looking out the window curiously for quite a while haha, that was fun to see.
After the wrap we took the train and went home. Without a notice David and I felt asleep leaning with my head on the window. An old lady took a picture from us, but I was too tired too ask why. Maybe because of our stylish haircut by the makeup artist. Then I remember someone woke me up with a phone call for some diamonds business.. While we were still sleepy we arrived at Utrecht station. I was so tired that I took the wrong train back home. I went all the way to Amersfoort and ya . .

Actually I was not really in the mood to meet her tonight, I was afraid that we will have another argue which annoys me so much, but after a shower I was fresh and energized. Ready to go and it ended up as a very special day to me.

What a wonderful moment, I can hardly describe it. The day I have been waiting for..
I have no words for it. You have to see my face XD gosh,.,. this is amazing. The best expression is coming from inside out, now THAT is what’s happening, I can’t stop smiling, a smile that comes from inside out. Soo lovely ^^
I am so happy that I can kiss every bypassing girl. I want to tell and show everyone my happiness! That’s why I yelled out right away in the restaurant, stopped by the girl next to me. Cuz I was at the point to run through the restaurant and climb over the counter and kiss the chef! No i’m just kidding =P
I have always said to myself, one day, this package, a box full of sticky notes messages will be delivered to the right addressee. Like a plaster on the wound. Love and care is magic. You know, lots of people give up at an early stage. There were also friends who didn’t believed this would be fine one day, but now I can tell them, we have settled this and it feels even better and stronger than before. You know, my spirit will fight till the end. Because I believe!

At this moment, life can not be better. I feel so lucky. You know, being sad, angry, frustrated or whatever you want to call it, asks a lot of negative effort. Life should be energized, by positiveness. Now I was stuck at a moment, I was disappointed in her and at the same time don’t want to hurt her, because I was afraid to loose her as a girl friend. I have written down my feelings, I have expressed my feelings through music, shared my thoughts with friends. You know, I prefer to talk with friends whom are elder than myself to bring up some wise and new perspectives. but nothing is better than to look into her eyes and say what I felt. I’ve tried many times to settle this but it was not easy, and I think most important is not to give up.

Because of this happening, I realizes how important communication is and delivering the right message. I also feel that she somehow give me positive energy which I cherish.
After all this, I now even more appreciate friendship and every relationship.

It was a difficult time we had, it always ends up with at least some argues. We both struggled. I know you want the best for me and I had the same for you too, We both had the same good intention, but somehow it wasn’t that what we expected to be. I thank you deeply for sharing my view. As I knew the road ahead was not easy, I am not afraid in the dark, cause I know there are stars to guide us to the right direction.
GOD has already planned that day, you just need to believe in it. You see, it just happened! Remember my words, I’ll be there if you should need me. You don’t have to worry.

By the way, I would like to thank Helen for her time with me sharing thoughts, she is so nice. I tell you what, now I have been to Vapiano for 2 times now, both dinners are treat by a girl. You see how lucky I should be?

I now appreciate the moments we had, they are just So Sweet,.,.
I want to be the best Alex Cheung on this planet and right now I am the luckiest Alex Cheung.

The year of the Rabbit started for me quite well, everything starts to run.
I believe this year, would be another great year with lots of opportunities and experiences.
I am looking for new challenges!
I dare to say that everything what you have seen by now is just a foretaste.
The real thing is going to start soon, so please be prepared =)
We’re going to live life to the ultimate!

God from the heavens, Thanks for watching my back.

Tears from heaven

I feel so damn lucky having friends to share the joy with me. Able to express myself and inspire people, being creative as I love to be. I am proud of the things I do, lots of people even don’t have the chance for, eating what a like to eat, saying what I am thinking, living in a house while millions of people are homeless, learning many things as thousands and thousands of children can’t even afford a pencil. We are so damn lucky that we don’t have to think about how to survive tomorrow, but stupidly worrying which hamburger we order for dinner. I am glad to be here in the world. When you realize this, you will get out more of your life and start to care about others and this beautiful world. How would you pass on this planet?

It is important to realize how important communication is. Getting your message over rightly. If you feel happy, show it, if not, tell them. Talk, as we have a mouth to speak, listen as we have ears to listen carefully. And if you share your thoughts or story today! Your life may be different tomorrow!

I am really thankful to the people who are supporting me, and my parents who are standing behind me. They are really lovely.

Apart of all the happiness, I am willing to start with sharing a bit of my inner feeling this moment.

I have selected this song, which I find very nice and touching. It has nothing to do with the lyrics as I don’t know what it is about. I think I’ll try to play this song on piano later this month, it must be beautiful.

Yes, I feel so sad,. :'(
This needle in my heart need to be pulled out. It has deeply infected me. I thought I can handle it. but when time goes by, it is only getting deeper and deeper. I tried to forget the needle and the pain since it is not listening to me. When time goes by the wound became a scar with the needle still somewhere deep inside my heart.
Time by time, It hurts me so much. I can’t let it go, because the needle is my friend, and my heart has feelings. My actions are strong, but my feelings are sensitive yet fragile.
Every time I try to pull it out, it fights back, it is ignoring me. Every moment I think of it, I can feel the pain that I stand through.
I was asking myself, do you believe that one day this would be relieved? I answered in my mind; All I know is that I believe in myself. Like the sun will rise tomorrow, I will keep on fighting. That motivates me not to give up, the needle that once was in hands of my dear friend. I push myself each time to go bravely with hope and positiveness, till now, I left with tears in my eyes.

But I promise when one day this knot is finally unraveled, I will share my happiness with you right here in my blog.

Thanks for reading my little tear dropping story ..
